This can be done natively using XSplit, OBS, or WireCast live encoders. If you are using Flash Media Live Encoder then you can use FMLE in combination with a software called ManyCam to achieve this. Here are instructions on how to use ManyCam and FMLE together:

  1. Download and install ManyCam from www.manycam.com
  2. Start ManyCam
  3. Start Flash Media Live Encoder (or your choice of live encoder) and select 'Manycam Virtual Webcam' for 'Device' (or 'ManyCam video source' if you see this entry)

You can now use the ManyCam interface to switch the live video feed to different sources including an application window such as Microsoft PowerPoint.

Note: ManyCam displays a logo in the video output which can be removed by clicking on the 'Effects' tab, selecting 'Text' and deselecting the 'Show Manycam Logo' option.

Another method of capturing and streaming your Windows desktop using any live encoder is by installing a DirectShow filter such as UScreenCapture which we've successfully tested using Adobe FMLE. This is a free driver and can be downloaded from here:

Mac OS X solution

Mac OS X users can use CamTwist which works similar to ManyCam.
