Here are the basic steps on how to use multi-bitrate streaming with your videos:

1. Encode your video two or more times, each time using a different bit rate.
2. Rename the encoded videos to end with _kbps.mp4 as such:

e.g
myvideo_400kbps.mp4
myvideo_800kbps.mp4
myvideo_1200kbps.mp4

3. Upload the files to your media folder.

If you followed proper naming convention, our media manager will list all the different encodings of the video as one item. Click on generate embed code for that item and the video player will have a gear icon on the control bar. Users can click on the gear icon during video playback and switch to a different bit rate.

Please note: As an example, we have already placed a multi-bitrate video in your media folder named '0_sample_bitrate.mp4'. Notice that if you click on the small 'Expand' link next to 'Multi-bitrate:' on the top right hand corner it will list this video as 5 different files. This is an example of a multi bitrate video.

If you rather have the server switch bitrate automatically, edit the video player you're using from your 'Players' page and click on the 'Multi-bitrate' tab. Then change the default bahavior to 'Use Adaptive Bitrate Streaming (ABS) technology'.
