Please make sure any drivers that came with your camera or video capture card have been properly installed. If you have installed the drivers and the device still does not show, verify that the device is listed in the Device Manager. Also, check to see if the device supports DirectShow. If it does not, it may not be compatible with FMLE and you can try the workaround outlined below.

If you have installed all the necessary drivers and your device is still not detected by FMLE, you can try using a software such as ManyCam (available for both PC and MacOS) to capture the feed and send it to FMLE via its DirectShow compliant virtual camera driver. Here are basic instructions on how to use ManyCam in combination with FMLE:

  1. Download and install ManyCam from www.manycam.com.
  2. Start ManyCam and from the Video tab, select Cameras, and then click on the camera or video capture card you want to capture.
  3. Start Flash Media Live Encoder (or your choice of live encoder) and select 'Manycam Virtual Webcam' for 'Device' (or 'ManyCam video source' if you see this entry)
  4. The video feed should now show inside the FMLE preview window.

Note: ManyCam displays a logo in the video output which can be removed by clicking on the 'Effects' tab, selecting 'Text' and deselecting the 'Show Manycam Logo' option.

For Mac computers there is also CamTwist which works similar to ManyCam.
